Meditating on the blood of Christ shed for the redemption of humanity.
Promulgated by Pope John XXIII in 1960; traditionally prayed during July.
Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy. Christ, have mercy. Christ, have mercy. Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy. Christ, hear us. Christ, graciously hear us. God the Father of heaven, have mercy on us. God the Son, Redeemer of the world, have mercy on us. God the Holy Spirit, have mercy on us. Holy Trinity, one God, have mercy on us.
Each invocation: save us
Precious Blood of Christ, drawn from the veins of the Incarnate Word at the Annunciation, save us. Precious Blood of Christ, trickling from the Babe in the manger, save us. Precious Blood of Christ, shed at the circumcision, save us. Precious Blood of Christ, sweating from Jesus in his agony, save us. Precious Blood of Christ, flowing from his scourging, save us. Precious Blood of Christ, trickling down from his thorn-crowning, save us. Precious Blood of Christ, shed upon the cross, save us. Precious Blood of Christ, flowing from the side of Jesus, save us. Precious Blood of Christ, price of our salvation, save us. Precious Blood of Christ, which washes us from all sin, save us. Precious Blood of Christ, which defends us from the enemy, save us. Precious Blood of Christ, which refreshes and purifies our souls, save us. Precious Blood of Christ, our cup of joy, save us. Precious Blood of Christ, which ascends to heaven as an intercessor for the whole world, save us. Precious Blood of Christ, which delivers us from hell, save us. Precious Blood of Christ, which keeps back the wrath of God from us, save us. Precious Blood of Christ, which opens paradise to us, save us. Precious Blood of Christ, seal and refuge of souls, save us. Precious Blood of Christ, sweetest refreshment of prisoners, save us. Precious Blood of Christ, which frees the souls in purgatory, save us. Precious Blood of Christ, most worthy of all glory and thanks, save us.
Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world, spare us, O Lord. Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world, graciously hear us, O Lord. Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world, have mercy on us.
